Crop Insurance
Oklahoma Farm Bureau offers complete protection for your crops.
Multiple Peril Crop Insurance
- Revenue Assurance - Revenue Assurance guarantees a dollar amount of revenue per acre, regardless of yield or low market prices. It also offers coverage flexibility and often comes out on top in pricing when compared to similar products.
- Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC) - Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC) provides protection against loss of income due to reductions in yield or changes in market prices, or a combination of the two. CRC addresses both yield and price risk.
CRC provides a revenue guarantee (based on your APH) that increases if harvest prices are high and provides income security if prices are low.
- Multi-peril - Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) provides comprehensive protection against unavoidable losses for most crops. MPCI coverage provides protection against low yields, poor quality, late planting, replanting costs and prevented planting.
- Coverage is available at 50 to 85 percent of the actual production history (APH) for the farm. The level selected will determine the yield guarantee. You as the producer, have the option of electing an indemnity price from 60 to 100 percent of the Federal Crop Insurance (FCIC) expected market price at the time of purchase. An indemnity is paid for each bushel or pound that your actual yield of your insured crop is below your guaranteed yield due to insured causes of loss.
- Catastrophic (CAT) - Catastrophic Risk Protection (CAT) provides the minimum amount of MPCI coverage. CAT policies pay only those losses in excess of 50% of your yield guarantee and at 55% of the price set for the crop. CAT coverage allows one basic unit per crop per county per shareholder. It is available for all insurable crops in the U.S.
Producers serious about risk management will buy-up to higher levels of MPCI coverage.
Crop Hail Coverage
Crop Hail provides the grower protection against any yield reduction caused by hail and / or fire. Other coverages provided include fire department service charges, transit coverage to the first place of storage, catastrophic loss award (most coverages) and replanting coverage (most crops). The grower may elect to insure up to the full value of the crop. There are various deductibles available to allow the grower to partially self-insure for a reduced premium cost.
Crop Hail policies protect against the one catastrophe that is most likely to totally destroy a part of your crop and leave the rest looking fine. The part hail takes out may well be less than the deductible of your MPCI policy, so many producers fill that gap with a special crop hail policy. This gives you acre by acre protection that can be up to the actual cash value of the crop.
